House M.D. é um drama médico onde os vilões são as doenças e o herói é um irreverente e controverso médico que não confia em ninguém, com excepção dos seus pacientes. O Dr. Gregory House é contra o contacto com os pacientes e evita até mesmo falar com eles se não for necessário. Lidando com a sua constante dor física, usa uma bengala que parece acentuar o seu comportamento rude e brutalmente honesto. Embora possa ser taxado como anti-social, House é um médico dissidente cuja maneira nada convencional de pensar e instintos certeiros permitem que seja respeitado por todos. Especialista em doenças infecciosas, é um brilhante médico que adora os desafios de quebra-cabeças da medicina que terá de solucionar para poder salvar vidas.
